Nanoprecise Issues Sensor Recall
Recently we informed all affected customers of a critical safety and compliance issue concerning our specific NS003 sensors labelled Ex ia IIC T4 Ga / Class 1 Division 1 Groups A,B,C,D. This was a voluntary recall we are instituting and is not triggered by any known safety incidents with our sensors.
We have recently discovered that the specific model of our NS003 sensors (described above) does not meet the required certifications for use in ATEX Zone 0, or Class I, Division 1 (C1D1) hazardous environments. This issue affects all NS003 sensors (labelled as described above).
As a result, the following action was required by the affected customers:
Immediate Action Required – NS003 Zone 0 / C1D1 Sensors
All NS003 sensors labelled Ex ia IIC T4 Ga / Class 1 Division 1 Groups A,B,C,D were to be removed from service immediately and returned to Nanoprecise. These devices are not certified for these high-risk zones, and continued use poses a safety and compliance risk.
- Refund: Nanoprecise will refund the full amount paid for each returned NS003 sensor
- On-Site Retrieval: At their request, a Nanoprecise representative could visit their site to collect the affected sensors directly and assist with the removal process.
If their company had an approved Zoning Plan as per Hazardous Area Classification and could confirm that the NS003 sensors (described above) were not deployed in Zones designated as 0, 1, 20, 21, C1D1, or C2D1, they had the option, but are not strictly required to take actions as per the recall notice. Alternatively, Nanoprecise could dispatch a team to identify and replace the caps for these NS003 sensors at their request.
Potential Replacement Options
The Nanoprecise team values their partnerships and would like the opportunity to directly discuss potential replacement options for sensors deployed in these hazardous locations.
Please note that if you haven’t heard from Nanoprecise on this matter, you were not affected and don’t have to take any action.
